A lot has happened since my last post. We sold our house and downsized to a nice town home. With the smaller town home my remote office has also downsized. More on this topic to follow in future articles…
My job also changed. I went from working from home for over 10 years to working in an office 9 to 5. I'm still adapting to the change 🙂 I love being in the office and connecting with co-workers, but I'm not a fan of the long commute. With more and more companies wanting their remote workers back in the office, expect this will affect more people.
Another big change is the WordPress platform itself. I've used various StudioPress themes and the Genesis framework for years and years. This site, RemoteOfficeTech site, uses the News Pro theme by StudioPress and the Genesis framework. Also, WordPress now uses the WordPress Block Editor called Gutenberg. This is a fundamental change on running a website and we all hate change 🙂 But I think it will be a lot better experience as I adapt to the new features.
In learning to use Gutenberg, I found a good article on the WordPress website, please see the link below. After my steps of how I added the link using the Gutenberg block editor.
One of the first things I wanted to do in writing this article is how to add a link and display the anchour text, so you don't have a messy URL. Here's the steps I followed, screenshot below for clarity:
- Enter the URL and Highlight it
- Click on the Link button in the pop up menu items and click on the Edit Link button
- Enter the text you want to display, this is not the link URL
- Review and update the link URL if necessary
- Click the Save button and review think, always good to click on it and ensure it works as expected
